Sometimes, it’s good to start at the beginning. If you want to get started shooting handguns with a classic, look no further than the new single-action .22LR Wrangler revolver from Ruger.
Built on the legacy of the popular Ruger Single-Six, the new Wrangler is a rugged, reliable revolver with an attractive price. Combined with the affordability of rimfire ammo, it’s a great starter gun that is ideal for someone learning to shoot and ready to put a lot of lead downrange.
A single-action revolver forces you to shoot slower, to practice good form, and to develop your sense of aim and point shooting as well. Plus it’s a part of history, and a great way to learn the ins and outs of one of the most iconic and basic repeating handgun designs.
The Single-Six, essentially an updated version of the Colt Single Action Army revolver aka The Peacemaker, was released in 1953 with the use of modern investment casting that ushered in a new era of affordable single-action revolvers.
With the use of modern CNC machining, lean manufacturing techniques, an a new aluminum allow cylinder frame, the Wrangler continues this tradition and sets a new bar for affordability while maintaining the line’s rugged reliability, the company says.
Another modern touch – the Wrangler will initially be offered in three Cerakote models, black, silver, and bronze. The Silver version features a black cylinder and grips, as does the bronze model.
The standard checkered black grip panels can be swapped for any Single-Six grips, allowing for a bunch of customized options. The Wrangler will also fit in Single-Six holsters for 4-5/8” barrel models.
“Single-action revolvers in .22 LR offer a safe and fun way to introduce new shooters to the sport, and can serve as a reminder to even the most experienced shooters that range time can be just plain fun. Whether it’s your first gun or your next, time at the range with the Wrangler promises to be well spent,” Ruger says.
The new revolvers will have an MSRP of $229 with a street price closer to $199.
